Location The Chail Palace Hotel spreads across 75 acres of land, enjoying the prime location in the small town of Chail. With its driveway connected to the main Shimla - Chail Road, it lies at the foremost edge of the town. Offering resplendent beauty and spectacular views, it also provides easy access to all places of tourist and commercial interest in and around Chail. Chail can be accessed from Shimla (40 km) or when coming from Chandigarh a road bifercuates at Kandaghat on NH-22. A stately palace dating back to 1819, the Chail Palace was converted into a hotel by Himachal Tourism in 1972. Set in approximately 75 acres of land, it has a truly regal setting with spectacular views. Its one kilometre long driveway leads off from the main Shimla - Chail Road. Surrounded by a thick deodar and pine forest, the hotel offers peaceful environs along with splendid facilities and services. On entering the hotel through the entrance near the parking area, guests are welcomed into a huge lobby that has a ceiling as high as two floors. The entire annexe, including the lobby, rooms and corridor is fully carpeted and lined with comfortable sofas. Rooms A wide variety of cottages, suites and rooms with different tariffs provide numerous options for guests. The 53 rooms at the hotel are divided into 2 Semi Deluxe rooms, 13 Deluxe rooms, 3 Super Deluxe rooms, 1 Maharaja Suite and 2 Maharani Suites, 1 Deluxe Log Hut, 5 Regular Log Huts and 9 rooms spread across three cottages. The hotel also has a sub unit called Hotel Himneel, which lies within the Palace premises and houses 16 rooms, located about 300 metres from the main building. While the cottages and log huts are spread across a wide area, the remaining rooms are located in the main building or the annexe. Room amenities include cable television, intercom, cushioned chairs, study table with mirror, mini refrigerator, shoe shine mitt, luggage rack and a cupboard. While the Super Deluxe rooms are larger in size and have an elegant sitting area, the Suites feature a separate living room furnished with a 3 piece sofa unit. Each room has a fireplace that is functional from December to March at a charge of Rs. 120 per night. Washroom amenities are common across categories and include soap, shampoo and linen. Hot water is supplied every morning from 6 am to 12 noon and every evening from 6 pm to 11 pm. While some washrooms have either a bathtub or a shower area, the washrooms in the higher room categories feature both. For the convenience of guests, tea/coffee is served in the rooms. Please note that room heaters are provided at an extra cost. Dining Dining facilities include the King's Dining, a multi cuisine restaurant and the Bar, which serves a variety of snacks along with domestic as well as international liquor brands. The restaurant boasts of a stately decor featuring exquisite chandeliers and ornate furniture. While snacks and beverages are served throughout the day, dishes from the meal menu are available for breakfast (8 am - 11 am), lunch (1 pm - 3 pm) and dinner (8 pm - 10:30 pm). The same menu comprising Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine is available through room service from 8 am to 11 pm. The bar is open from 11 am to 3 pm and from 6:30 pm to 10 pm. Conferences & Banquets Conference/banquet facilities are offered in a well equipped hall that can accommodate upto 60 guests at a time. Essential audio-visual equipment is available at the hotel itself while additional equipment can be arranged through local suppliers. Services & Facilities Recreational options include facilities for billiards besides board games and large open spaces that can be used as playgrounds by children. The hotel offers numerous trails for nature walks within its premises. Guests can enjoy billiards from 7 am to 10:30 pm at a charge of Rs. 100 per hour. Other facilities available at the resort include a travel desk, car rental service, laundry service and ample parking space.
